What Does Kek Batik Has To Do With Hari Raya Aidiladha...
SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILADHA!!!
Finally, after 3 years spending hari raya Aidiladha without my family, tahun nih, insya-Allah, we will all be celebrating it together, here in KL.
Apa preparation untuk hari raya nih? Hmm....actually nothing much. Baju raya pun guna yang raya puasa dulu. Tak buat ketupat rendang pun...kuih muih pun takde...so, it would be more like a simple family gathering...
I can still recall, 2 years ago, when I had to celebrate hari raya haji with my sis. When all my friends went back to their hometown and since both of us were busy, we decided not to go back to our kampung.
I don't know how to describe it, but definitely, I think it was the worst hari raya Aidiladha we had celebrated ever. I don't mind not having my parents together with us, but everything that happened on that day was devastating.
We didn't have any baju raya (obviously!)...we had no ketupat, rendang, whatsoever...nadaa! So, that morning, I decided to make a kek batik...well...at least we will have something to eat in such celebration. It was my first time so I didn't know what to expect. And yes...what happened was beyond my expectation. KEK BATIKku HANGUS!
Shoot...I know, making kek batik has to be the easiest thing to do but I'm not Chef Wan or not even close to be my mum which by the way is such a great cooker. So, back to the kek batik, since I wouldnt want to waste the kek, I decided to serve it...well...it's just for the two of us...so what the heck in having to try a new taste in kek batik eh?
And so, that was the only thing we ate until late evening until Kak Fizah finally called and invited us to her house. Ahhh....finally, a nice warm ketupat and rendang and also kuih raya! Great! I was starving!
Ok, maybe that's the only best part during that raya haji. But what dissapointed me the most, was that I called my uncle in the morning since we thought maybe we could celebrate Aidiladha at his house but unfortunately he changed his phone number without informing us. How devastating! We had no one else here and how could he bailed on us during such celebration. And later, I also found out that they went somewhere else during raya haji that year. But it was ok...no heart's feeling. Maybe just a little dissapointment.
And more, my house is situated very near to a surau and during that hari raya, there was a qurban. Cow slaughter. I can still remember that when I was little, they will be a plastic of fresh meat being delivered at our doorstep...more like every neighbours doorsteps. But there's no more nowadays....I wondered why....
But anyway...no matter how ur celebrating ur Aidiladha, hopefully, there will be more things in future that u would sacrifice to make ur life a better way in living!
Arkarnax: Sacrifice may sounds hard to do....but there will always be something good lying beneaths it....
